八王子駅から車で南に15分ほどの場所に位置する小比企町には、まとまった農地が今も残っています。
しかし近年農の担い手が減り、農地が宅地に移り変わりつつある中、農的資源を活かしたこれからの小比企の地域づくりを考えています。私たちは、八王子市都市計画課の方々、東京都立大学川原晋研究室、デザイナー小林未央さんのチームに2024年度より加わり活動しています。
昨年度は小比企町の農的資源に関するフィールドリサーチや合計21名の小比企の農を支える方々にインタビュー調査を行いました。また12月には、「こみちのマルシェ」というイベントを農家さんと共に企画し準備し開催しました。イベント当日には、小比企の農地沿いの小道に農家さんたちによる直売や収穫体験やスタンプラリーを行い、八王子市内外から500名以上の方々が来場しました。
今後も小比企町の農家さんと共にこれからの小比企町について考えていきます。
Located about a 15-minute drive south of Hachioji Station, Kobiki-cho still retains a significant expanse of farmland.
However, as the number of farmers has declined in recent years and farmland is gradually being converted into residential land, we are exploring ways to shape the future of Kobiki-cho by leveraging its agricultural resources. Since fiscal year 2024, we have been collaborating with the Hachioji City Urban Planning Division, Professor Susumu Kawahara’s research group at the Tokyo Metropolitan University, and a team led by designer Mio Kobayashi.
Last fiscal year, we conducted field research on Kobiki-cho’s agricultural resources and interviewed a total of 21 people who support agriculture in Kobiki. In December, we also planned, prepared, and hosted an event called “Komichi no Marche” in collaboration with local farmers. On the day of the event, we set up farmers’ direct sales stalls, harvest experiences, and a stamp rally along the paths bordering the farmland in Kobiki-cho, attracting over 500 visitors from both within and outside Hachioji City.
We will continue to work with the farmers of Kobiki-cho to envision the future of the town.
