Project Summary |

おおいた子ども支援ネットは、「こどもたちの最善の利益」と「権利擁護」を基盤にした、包括的なこども支援事業を行うNPO法人です。大分県大分市を中心に、自立援助ホーム・子どもシェルターや、放課後等デイサービスなどを展開しています。

このプロジェクトは、「みらいの福祉とは、育ち合う場づくりである」とし、放課後等デイサービスに利用していた元修道院と隣接する民家を改修するとともに、敷地全体を「育ち合う場」としてのオーガニックケアガーデンに再整備するというものです。

この場所では、利用者である子どもたちや保護者の他、地域住民、そして隣接する大分大学の学生たちが、庭仕事、料理と食事、読書などさまざまなふるまいを通して交流していきます。また、「人と植物とまちが育ち合うオープンな庭」では、地域資源の活用を積極的に促進させ、循環型地域社会や、みらいの福祉の担い手育成などにも取り組んでいきます。

 

建築設計はアトリエ・ワン、フォルクはランドスケープデザインを担当しています。

ランドスケープの提案では、敷地に既存していた材料や地域で行き場をなくしていた材料などを使いなおすことで空間をつくりあげています。

民家の庭にあったたくさんの景石を敷地内でサークルベンチや石積みの階段として活用しました。

舗装には、敷地を覆っていたコンクリート舗装の解体材を活用し、施設までのアプローチを施行しました。また、既存のコンクリート舗装を残した部分には切り込みを入れ、雨水浸透を促進する浸透スリットを施行しました。

また、他現場で発生した廃材のタンクを活用し、民家には雨水タンクを設置しました。

 

庭をつくるプロセスでは、子どもたちと敷地近辺で採れる材料でポット苗をつくったり、畑づくりが得意な地域の方に教わりながら子ども達と一緒にシェア畑をつくりました。

 

今後も少しずつみんなで手を加えながら、子ども達、地域の方や大学生と共に庭を育てていければと思います。

Oita Child Support Network is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive support for children, grounded in the principles of the best interests of the child and the protection of children's rights. Based in Oita City, Japan, it operates a range of programs, including independent living support homes, a children's shelter, and after-school day services.

This project is guided by a simple idea: “the future of welfare begins with creating places where people can grow together.’ A former convent and the neighboring house, previously used as an after-school day service, were renovated, while the entire site was reimagined as the ‘Organic Care Garden’—a landscape that fosters care, participation, and shared growth.

Rather than functioning solely as a therapeutic garden, the site serves as an everyday place where children and their families, local residents, and students from the neighboring Oita University come together through ordinary activities such as gardening, cooking and sharing meals, and reading. These daily practices create opportunities for relationships to emerge across generations and backgrounds. Envisioned as an open garden where people, plants, and the wider community grow together, the project extends beyond the boundaries of the site. By making active use of local resources and encouraging their circulation, it supports the development of a more regenerative local community while cultivating the people who will shape the future of welfare.
