Project Summary |

鳥取県米子市を拠点に活動する建築家・木村智彦氏にお声がけいただき、米子市内の新築個人邸の庭を設計・施工しました。クライアントは長年米子市で暮らしてこられたご夫婦です。以前のお住まいでは、駐車場いっぱいに植木鉢を並べ、日々丁寧に植物を育てられていました。特に奥様は、コンクリートの隙間に芽吹く小さな野草の成長にも目を向け、その変化を楽しむほどの植物愛好家です。そこで今回の庭づくりでは、ご夫婦がこれまで大切に育ててこられた植物たちを主役に据え、植物とともに引っ越す庭を計画しました。また、舗装には、米子市や松江市の空き家から集められた石材を採石場で選定し、再利用しています。新しい庭に根を下ろした植物たちが、これから季節を重ねながらのびのびと成長していく姿を楽しみにしています。

 

We were invited by architect Tomohiko Kimura, who is based in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, to design and construct the garden for a newly built private residence in Yonago.

The clients are a couple who have lived in Yonago for many years. At their previous home, they filled their entire parking area with potted plants, carefully tending to them as part of their daily lives. The wife, in particular, is a passionate plant lover who even takes pleasure in observing the growth and changes of small wild plants sprouting from cracks in concrete.

For this garden, we placed the plants they had lovingly nurtured over the years at the center of the design, creating a garden that moved together with their plants as they moved into their new home.

For the paving, we selected and reused stones collected from vacant houses in Yonago and Matsue Cities. These materials carry traces of the local landscape and continue their lives as part of the new garden.

We look forward to seeing the plants, now rooted in their new home, continue to grow freely and gracefully through the changing seasons.
